I've been playing crocket for a good 4 years now, and I have never seen the baskets in a different location on...
(2), (14), (17), (18)
...but according to dgcoursereview.com each of these do have another location. Has anyone ever seen one of these four in a different placement than where they are now?
Also....does anyone think (9) will ever get moved back under the tower? I loved it there.

14 has a short location, on the hill. 17's is in between the trees to the left of the tunnel. 18, to my knowledge, only happened in a tournament. The location was an "island," marked with ropes, down the hill and about 80 feet further than the standard pin placement. 9 has been under the tower, but it's been awhile. Dunno if the designers are afraid people on 10's tee might get tagged with errant drives? 2, to my knowledge, has one location. I've heard talk of it moving, but it hasn't in the years I've played there. Nor has 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 13, 15 or 16. Which is fine.
As for why the pins don't move, I don't know who has control over moving the baskets. It isn't WCDGC, which is a bummer. If whoever has the authority to move the baskets could post, perhaps we could dialog and make Crockett Park a better time. As for now, we'll simply have to enjoy the company and the current layout. (FWIW, 4, 7 and 10 moved twice within the last few months, to short, and back to the longs again.)

From the designer:
1- Only one placement. Not room to add one different enough and still be safe.
2- One existing placement. Original design called for another longer placement. True par 4. But never got the chance to put it in. Sure would be nice.
3 - Only one placement. Not room to add one different enough and still be safe.
4. Two original placements. One long and one short. AND - Original design called for another longer placement. True par 4. But never got the chance to put it in. Sure would be nice.
5. One original placement by the hollies. AND - Original design called for another longer placement. True par 4. But never got the chance to put it in. Sure would be nice.
6. Only one placement. Not room to add one different enough and still be safe.
7. Two placements. One long and straight. The other right and tight.
8. One original placement. But, afterthought says a 2nd target off to the right would be a good thing.
9. Two placements. One most long. And the other under the tower.
10. Two placements. One long, the other short.
11. Two existing placements. One on the hillside and the other in the valley. AND - Original design called for another longer placement. True par 4. But never got the chance to put it in. Sure would be nice.
12. 3 placements. One in the "cave tree", one LONG in the meadow towards the soccer building, and another 500'ish in the same meadow.
13. One target. But, original design called for alternate red and white tees to be used when 12 was in the cave. But, the white tee area has not been maintained. Not in use at the time.
14. Two placements. One long and the other shorter on the ridge. Note - always wanted a 3rd longer one, but no way to add in a safe one with the road, etc.
15. One original placement. But, afterthought calls for another longer one down the left side fairway. To be used only during the dry season and when 11 is in the par 4 position in the woods.
16. One placement. Always wanted another but nothing would work well. Corner was too crowded and the road, etc.
17. Two placements. One long and the other shorter between the two trees on the left side of fairway. This area has not been maintained. The short placement isn't very usable right now.
18. One original placement. But afterthought calls for another true par 4 island placement. Side note -- it has been suggested that the club work towards purchasing 5 permanent targets for the true par 4's (2, 4,5, 9, 11, 18) In other words, (after adjusting the signage) always have a target in the par 4 position and for those with choices -- move the other target amongst the par 3 positions.
That way a player could play a par 54 course or a par 62 course -- depending on their time or mood or skill level.
Back to 18. The reason 5 targets would result in a total of 6- par 4 placements is that 9 and 18 would/could share a par 4 target. (wouldn't be a real conflict during casual play - tournament play would have to choose.) Replace the existing long 9 placement with one that is about 50' longer. Same OB rules for the path that exist now.
But, for the 18 par 4 placement (same target spot as 9 par 4 placement), add an inbounds island with some kind of border. And add an OB line across the fairway in line with the existing target. Any thing past the OB line would be out of bounds unless it landed in the inbounds island.
Just a thought.
And yes, WCDGC did willingly provide the design and installation for Crockett, but WCDGC currently does not have permission to volunteer on the course. Working on a possible insurance related solution.
At the inception of the course, WCDGC bought locks for all of the targets/sleeves, but sometime last year the city park department cut them off and installed another set. The targets, the upkeep, the signage, the maintenance, (the improvements??), etc either do or don't happen as determined by the parks department.
WCDGC still sees itself as a friend of the park, but is not currently in the conversation loop concerning dg ideas. But, it sure would be nice.
