Hey guys, a quick question for you. I've signed up for the Barfield Open. It'll be my first real tournament (I somehow talked the Mrs. into a V-Day doubles event in February. I'm not sure that really counts. Miraculously, we're still married.)
Anyway, being pretty new to the sport, I'm trying to figure out what to expect out of myself. I've played Barfield once now. Really cool course. But I see that the tournament is one round on the traditional course, and one round on the "temp course." Can anyone tell me what that's like? I tried to Google it (I'm the nerd who likes to research everything), and the only info I could find mentioned lots of Out-of-Bounds.
Have any of you guys played the Barfield Temp Course? What should I expect?

I played the temp course during the Ice Bowl (2012? 2011?). Indeed, there are lots of out of bounds. It goes around the baseball fields. Minor elevation changes, a few mandos, but mostly (if memory serves) 200-320 footers. Lots of mid range precision shots. They utilize the space well, but there were a few holes that run alongside the entrance road that could unnerve newer players. One elevated basket (on a stump, if it's still there). Parking lot pavement is all OB.
I enjoyed the temp course greatly, but we also had a few inches of snow with a hard top layer so if you didn't tombstone, you could potentially skip another hundred feet without trying.
Good luck in the tourney. Come on out to Crockett sometime and (re?)introduce yourself.

Thanks, becker. That's good to know. I'll have to make it out to a Sunday doubles sometime. I love the Crockett course!
