A couple questions (and then some)
1. How do you figure out your rating? Do you have to join PDGA, or is it something you can figure out? I tend to play par golf at 7Oaks and Barfield, +3 or 4 at Smith Springs, and low double digits at Cedar Hill and Crockett. Do you go by best rounds? Or more of an average? I rarely play tourneys, so if that's the only measuring stick, I'll stay mostly unrated.
2. I'm currently Tag #8 for Crockett. If I play somewhere else with someone with a Crockett tag, does it apply? Or do Crockett tags only come into play in Brentwood?
Appreciate the answers to potentially dumb questions. Enjoyed playing in the snow.

1. Ratings are based on PDGA sanctioned rounds only, and the PDGA only tracks ratings for their members.
2. It's up to you, down here in Alabama we usually play for all tags every round.

Jim, I carry bag tags from WCDGC and from some other clubs. Everytime (casual or not) that I play someone with a like tag -- we put our tags up for grabs. Winner gets lowest tag. Got more than 2 playing - same thing -- more math.
If you play one of our local events we speed up the process by physically gathering all of the tags before an event, then re-distrubuting them afterwards. Most clubs do the same.
For an on-going rating -- that is one of the great benifits of joining the PDGA. As an aside -- dropping $50 a year for membership - whether you play a lot of tournaments or not -- is a no brainer. A great way to support the sport.
If you need help deciding which division is right for you for an upcoming tournament, just let me know. Get me on the phone while I am at the computer and we can get it taken care of.
BTW, I enjoyed playing with you guys. But, I didn't enjoy the snow. Wanted to complain about the tee pads -- and they said I needed to talk to Ron. Never found him.
