Ok, with a bit of discussion in other threads about organized events in Williamson Co., I'd like to get something going. With several weeks to go until 2010, I'd like to get a few of us that are committed to golf on a weekly basis, or anyone for that matter to have a DISCcussion meeting on what we can do for 2010. Jot your ideas down on paper and lets get together on: TUESDAY OCTOBER 27, 2009 @ BLEACHERS 6:30pm (sports bar off hwy 96 in Franklin across from the Chop house) Topics to DISCuss: *2010 bag tag style and price *dates & times of points series events *format & points payout (I'm working on a chart) *other events not included in points series (i.e. an ace race would be cool) *grand prize ideas *possible handicapping system or a way to keep baggers from soaking up all the points *club disc inventory & ways to continue *whatever else is on your minds be thinking about whether or not you can personally be able to help run these events, these things only work with volunteers. we will need someone at each event that can sign people in, tally points, take club disc requests, reassign bag tags and such. so here we go, lets do this. overall objective is to have 4 weekly events @ times that allow for the most involvement, if one can not make it to one event, than maybe they can make the other. the more one can make it, the more points they can earn for the chance at the grand prize. the main goal: HAVE FUN

Good thinking/effort/input RD! Thanks. Unfortunately since I work 2nd shift I won't be able to make that meeting. I am interested in running the Sunday Doubles event if it's at Crockett (not anymore) or Liberty. It's too far to Cedar Hill or Smyrna for me (although those are great courses). I think that some players prefer not to choose Liberty because it's not a big arm course. That's true... but opens up opportunities for accurate noodle arms & amateurs to really participate or even excel. Just a matter of perspective.
My main goal has always been: FUN for everyone! LOL
so: where are folks playing Sunday? Cedar Hill with Slowroll?

John, my plan would include a regular doubles at crockett, thats the point of the point system (rather than a buy in/pay out),brentwood parks havn't stopped us from playing, they just dont want us charging money and selling discs, all of these events will be free. everyone that wants in this will need to buy a bag tag............ tell ya what, lets just say all the details will be announced after the meeting, sorry you cant make it, jot down your ideas and email them if you like, that goes for anyone unable to attend. arrdee33@yahoo dot com as for the other courses in mid-tenn, though they are great to play these scheduled events will be just the williamson courses (crockett, liberty) to earn the points. i would love to see the finals played at another course, and throughout the year we could do a monthly club event at another course..............thats what the meeting will be for, to hash out these ideas keep brainstorming, i think this is going to become great!!

I'm meeting up with a friend or two at Cedar Hill Tuesday(the 20th) at 4:00 if anyone is interested in plating. Sunday I have church in the morning then I may go hit the second round over at the Shire in Lebanon. I know what rd looks like, say hello sometime john/becker so I can put faces with the names. I'm the dummy hitting trees with all blue frisbees, shouldn't be too hard to spot.

Back to the actual topic. It seems to me that when the "club" name gets associated with activities, then that's when it gets complicated. I don't know all the details, and this may all be inaccurate, but I will ask nonetheless. Is it true that the club does not have insurance, and that our lack of having it is the big issue with the parks people? James and Jacky in Smyrna told me that their club has to have insurance and that it is purchased on the cheep, so money shouldn't be that big of a hangup. I can get you more info if it would help. I live all the way out in Lebanon, but I enjoyed playing in your events enough to buy a bagtag, and I played in your big tournament and even a few of your weeklys. I know that Ron is a good man and he has worked hard for what he believes in. No one else has done as much for discgolf in your area. But I worry that he is getting tired or wore down from all this crap and think that what rd is saying might be a good thing. The bottom line is most of us, including me, don't care about all the details or politics. We just want to go play, and if you're like me COMPETE. I don't care if its for prizes, lunch, or just a nice warm handshake, I want to play and I want to win! If you figure out something to get organized events going again, you can bank on the fact that I will show up and throw my money down. I just hope that whatever this big funky cloud of inactivity/indecision gets lifted soon. Its bs that the parks people won't work with the club, but it's even more so for us as players to not at least try to make a serviceable work around so we can still get our game on. I have a WCDGC bagtag that I never get to play for. And that seems wrong to me, let's fix it. Good luck guys.

stay tuned slowroll, i like your attitude, thanks for the support. somthing will get going for 2010. as far as the insurance and things like that, i'm not sure about. that is why i want to have this meeting. Ron is still working hard to get things going again, he is frustrated and also resiliant(sp.) and will continue to work with the parks to gain a 2 way relationship.
like you said, i just want to compete, i like the idea of a points series, i like the idea of these events being free (it keeps the "unauthorized" details out)
lets hope for some intrest from some core players to show up at this meeting and get something worked out.....................

That sounds like a great idea. I plan to attend the meeting, and I hope something can be created. I just moved here from Cincy, and I am very disappointed with the Nashville area disc golf scene. It is very hard to find weekly events to attend, there seems to be no central command or club or web site to view all the good, bad or ugly things going on. I would be very interested in assisting or helping to run an ace fund type event in Williamson County, or even at Henry Horton. I live in Lewisburg and work in Franklin, so hopefully something can get worked out between the club and the park and we can enjoy some friendly competition in 2010!!!

So you don't like the list of weekly events I've spent the entire year updating on ... www.tndiscgolf.comI update every Monday morning with the events that have been sent my way. There is something to do most nights. I think Friday is usually the only night there isn't something going on. And tonight is the Halloween Glow tournament at Barfield! Get your butt out there and have some fun!

Wish I could've attended, but had prior commitment.

report please!
were there any good ideas that aren't already given here ('cause there are some good ideas here!)?
any decisions get made or was it just discussion?
who was in attendance?
did anyone take minutes?
is Bleachers now the official 19th tee?
