The 11th Annual Crazy 8 will be held May 21, 2011. We will play eight Nashville area courses in one day! We start at about 6:00 am and end around 8:30 pm.
Which courses we play is still up for grabs.
Definitely no wimps!
Last year's champion might not play this year, so the top spot is open.
We're a month earlier than last year, so I hope it won't be quite so hot.
For more information contact Dave at eight three two, oh four seven nine.

Two Rivers will be much easier this year with the new layout!!

I have every intent of winning all eight courses this year, sinking several aces along the way, and holding my breath for seventeen straight minutes.
Now I simply need to clear it with the missus.

Sorry you can't be there, Cam.
GatorAde is on sale this week at Publix. Eight 20 oz. bottles for five bucks. Stock up! We recommend you drink a bottle during each round.
Which courses should we play this year? I tried Two Rivers on Saturday, and it's a little easier to walk than it used to be. Seems to me, though, there weren't as many birdie shots.
I usually vote that we not go to Gallatin. It's a long drive up there, and the course isn't all that fun.
Here's my suggestions:
Liberty (White and Red simultaneously) Crockett Seven Oaks Two Rivers Cedar Hill Sanders Ferry, Hendersonville - or - Cedars of Lebanon Sharp Springs, Smyrna Barfield Crescent, M'boro
Or, after Cedar Hill ... Sanders Ferry, Hendersonville Triple Creek, Gallatin Cedars of Lebanon Sharp Springs, Smyrna
That way we wouldn't have to drive down to M'boro.

A thought....
A counterclockwise loop of our area, ending close to home (for most)
Henry Horton (start on a shorter flat course) Barfield Sharp Springs 2 Rivers 7 Oaks Cedar Hill Crockett Liberty
Kinda tighter loop. But I too will not make it so this was just a thought

But I too will not make it so this was just a thought Exactly the courses I was going to lobby for (if I was playing ) Seemed the trip to/from Lebanon caused a lot of wasted daylight last year. I know the trip from Smyrna to Horton was long too, but had we finished Smyrna>Barfield>Horton instead of Lebanon>Smyrna>Horton, I don't think there would have been any daylight issues at all.

I like the selection of courses and the order of play. But should we start on the easy-walking courses, or end on them? The hills on Crockett and Liberty would be awfully steep at the end of a long day. So maybe we should go clockwise.
On the other hand, I like the idea of starting far away and ending at home.
I wonder what time HH opens.
Any other votes?
And can y'all make it to HH at 6:15 so we can start at 6:30?

My vote: scrap Horton, start at MBoro, and add Hendersonville after Cedar Hill. Or juggle the order a bit - MBoro, Smyrna, then go north of town to Hville and Cedar Hill, coming back through 2Rivers, 7Oaks, Crockett and Liberty. (Two Rivers is considerably kinder with the new layout.) Regardless of what we do, our legs will be shot by the time we hit Liberty, but that's counteracted by the fact that we're playing R&W during one loop.

Okay, here's another option. We don't want to end at Liberty, because it would be a lot of work to walk up and down those hills, and it would be bad if it got dark there. Hendersonville would be a good place to end because it wouldn't be dark and the hills aren't too bad, especially on the front nine. So ...
Barfield Smyrna (Sharp Springs) Crockett Liberty Seven Oaks Two Rivers Cedar Hill Hendersonville (Sanders Ferry)
What would you think of meeting at 5:45 and starting at 6:00? Barfield officially opens at 6:00, but we might be able to get in a few minutes early.

You may want to utilize 840 since it is usually traffic free. Work Smyrna/Murfreesboro then take 840 West to I65 North to Liberty then Crockett then 7 Oaks. Just my $02.oo (Nobody cares about $00.o2 anymore )

I entered all the parks into Google Maps and tried different combinations. Here's the best order. It works out to 101 miles and about two and a half hours of driving (not counting getting to BC and coming back from SF).
Barfield Crescent (M'boro) Sharp Springs (Smyrna) Crockett Park Liberty Park Seven Oaks Two Rivers Cedar Hill Sanders Ferry (Hendersonville)
The only tricky part is getting from Smyrna to Crockett: From Sam Ridley parkway, you go northwest on 24 to the Old Hickory exit. That puts you on Burkitt going south then west to Nolensville Rd. Then you go a little north and pick up Concord Rd. Just west of the Gov'nors Club you turn left on Crockett Rd. Takes about 35 minutes to go 20 miles.
So let's plan on teeing off at Barfield at 6:00.

Two more issues:
1. Carpooling. Because we're starting out at M'boro and ending at H'ville, we're going to have to plan the carpooling ahead of time. For example: Becker, do you want to ride with the Godels and I? We'll pick you up at 5:15.
Another option for those who live in the Franklin area is to drive separately until you get to Crockett or Liberty, then carpool after that. But don't leave your car in a park that will be locked up at sunset.
2. Hydration and diet. The best plan is to drink 20 oz. of Gatorade or water during each course, and eat a piece of fruit between the courses. There will also be opportunities to stop for a burger here or there, but we've found that a bag of sliders makes a greasy lump in your gut on that next course--you're better off sticking with the fruit.

Is there a place to sign up for the crazy 8 tournament? I have four or five guys that want to play this year.
