Going to Bowling Green, KY to play disc golf for the first time. Want to play at least 3 different places. What are the best three courses and why? IMHO, 1)Kereiakes- nice mix of shots, duel pads on some holes, cedar trees to challege lines. 2)Lovers Lane- (very close to Kereiakes) has more open shots, a little more distance, wind plays a factor, but is a really fun course 3)Hobson Grove-(also not too far from the first two) has the historic factor,an older, shorter wooded course with fair lines. has the fun factor. 4)Basil Griffen- Nice park with mix of woods and open, some holes play around a lake bringing different challenge, a fun layout these 4 are must plays I think for any level player. You can do all 4 no prob if you get an early start as they are no more than 15 mins from each other If your wanting more "open", "bomb" type courses, try Phil Moore and Ephram White (lots of OB here) use dgcoursereview.com and their map browser to see a map location and get all your addresses and gps coordinates. Have fun, it will be a good trip

BG golf. I am jealous.
RD has a good list.
I would rank them this way; 1. Kerieakes - classic fun. Not too long, but challenging 2. Hobson Grove - more fun per acre than any course around. A must-play. The wind can be brutal, the shots will make you think. 3. BGTC (Tech College) -- the newest one. Major tough course. Some nice par 4's. Not a newbie course, but a great challenge. Wish it was closer. Sort of a Cedar Hill on flatter ground. 4. Lovers Lane- Beautiful park. Looks open, but don't be fooled -- trouble is a tree away.
Phil Moore and White? I would never play them on a casual round. BG likes to use them for events, but there ain't much to like. Just for fun, I would play Basil Griffin first.

Thanks guys, What about Holler in the Hills? Any opinion on that? Its a great course, private so you need to contact Howie before you go play it. Its about 30 minutes from the heart of Bowling Green, but worth the trip. Its Advance+ level, so expect a challenge. As well as a couple VERY unique shots....i.e, the boulder to boulder shot. Literally shoot of a boulder across to a basket on another boulder

We played Hobson Grove on Friday, and then on Saturday played Holler in the Hills, Kerieakes, and Lovers Lane.
I would travel again to play Holler in the Hills and Hobson Grove. Kerieakes and Lovers Lane are fine, just not very distinct from anything around here.

****threadjack warning****
I've noticed that Chalybeate Springs Disc Golf Course has been added the the Rec/Int pool for this year's Bowling Green Ams. Anyone ever played it? (it's a few miles north of White Park)

Pronounced Clee-Bite. And yes, I have played it as an Adv Master. I shall never play it again.
I call it Cheese Bite. Short and technical. But, some very strange shots. Several holes on a bluff. Up, down, sideways. Billy goat golf. Not family friendly, not kiddo friendly, not Ryan friendly, not old fart friendly; I fell once and rolled back down the hill farther than I threw.
Has 4 or 5 holes with a very iffy fairways and punitive OB's. More-so than Preston. Poke and hope. If you hit all the lines, you can score under par, but it has a cheesy amount of luck. Some better players will choke, and lesser players will prevail.
But, other than that -- it is a fine course.

That's cold.
It was that darling little uphill shot. The target is about 30' away laterally, but 150' UP the hill. I threw a thumber, parked it -- it rolled about halfway down. After finally getting to my lie, I plopped a putter up to the base of the target and proceeded to roll back to the tee box. I lost my glasses and got banged up pretty good. If not for the collateral damage, that hole could use a flamethrower, a bulldozer, and some dynamite. Let me know if you have either.
