I'll start a new thread with the correct date.
We're discussing which Saturday to play the Crazy 8. I favor June 16 or June 23, but the day after tomorrow is still an option.
After some discussion below, I decided on June 16.
For those who are new to this idea, the Crazy 8 is not a sanctioned tournament. It's just a bunch of guys who go out and play 8 different courses in one day. Here's what we did last year:
Barfield Crescent (M'boro) Sharp Springs (Smyrna) Crockett Park Liberty Park Seven Oaks Two Rivers Cedar Hill Sanders Ferry (Hendersonville)
We started out at 6:00 at Barfield Crescent. However, we ran out of daylight and didn't play Sanders Ferry.

So desperately wishing I could participate this year. I'll be back in '13.

Bryan can't make it June 16 or 23. Ratskrad doesn't prefer this Saturday. June 9 is the Music City tournament, so two of the courses would be closed (Seven Oaks and Cedar Hill).

How many could do it on short notice, May 19?

Grant and Richard can make it on June 9, June 16, or June 23rd. It would be fun if Bryan could make it again this year.

Well, let's make it *** June 16 ***. (Sorry, Bryan.)
We'll meet at Barfield Crescent at 6:00, tee off at 6:15.
Bring lots of water and snacks. I recommend drinking one 20 oz. Gatorade during each round. I also like to eat a piece of fruit between rounds. We'll stop for a burger somewhere along the line.
Bring a second pair of shoes and a few pairs of dry socks. There is dew on the grass for the first few rounds. Bring a couple extra t-shirts. I don't have any more Crazy 8 shirts to hand out--they were a limited-time offer.
Bring discs to throw over the water at Smyrna and H'ville.
If June 16 is a total wash-out or over 100 degrees, we'll postpone to the 23rd.

Dave - how does this work exactly based on the order of which courses are played and when. I ask because I've thought about doing this tourney for years but never have. I just recently moved to about 1.5 miles from Sharp Springs in Smyrna and it's kind of a bummer that it would start at Barfield then to just turn around and come back to Smyrna, for me that is. Are these courses played in order with the group or can they just be played in any random order or does that leave it all up to one being honest that they played them all?

Ambroze - This is the twelfth year I've done this. Years one and three I played by myself. There were several years where there were only three of us playing together. One year three of us played ten courses.
You may do whatever you want, but if you don't want to play alone, we'll be at BC at 6:00. We might be able to work something out as far as carpooling. We could pick you up on I-24 somewhere if you want.
Another option would be for you to play SS once before we get there. It wouldn't be quite the same, but it would save you some driving.
There aren't really any rules. It's just a bunch of crazy people.

Dave- Yea I did the calculations and actually playing SS first and then it would be Barfield/Liberty/Crockett/7 Oaks/2 Rivers/Cedar Hill/Sanders Ferry would only save me 12 miles but that would throw things all off for attempting to play with anyone. I think I'll stick with the original planned courses if I decide to play.
One more question, what tees are used when there are multiple tee pads like at Crockett and Liberty? I would hope everything would be played from the shorter tees to save on time.

At Liberty we play the white and red at the same time: We tee off the white, then we tee off the red, and we each keep track of two discs and two scores. That way we play 20 holes but only have to walk the course once.
At Crockett we play the reds. At SS we play 3 dry but we vote on whether to play 9 wet or dry.

Since Becker isn't playing this year, there is a possibility for someone else to have the enviable bragging rights for the next 12 months. You just have to beat a couple old farts and a college kid with a long arm.
Come on out!

It looks like the weather will be fine on Saturday, with the high only 90 degrees. I've seen worse. Bring lots of Gatorade!
Richard, Grant, and Dave are confirmed. Who else?

OK, tomorrow's the day! We meet at Barfield Crescent at 6:00 and tee off at 6:15.
I suspect we'll be at Sharp Springs at about 7:45 or 8:00 if you want to join us there.
Be there or be a plane figure with four equal straight sides and four right angles.
Tomorrow's the 12th Crazy 8; It starts right at 6--don't be late. I've played all 11, Though last year just 7, So this year a 9th would be great!
Just kidding.
