Thanks for the heads up. We're still in the middle of our remodling project but I'm gonna do my best to make it.

Thanks for the heads up. We're still in the middle of our remodling project but I'm gonna do my best to make it. Just don't get hurt fooling with the remodel stuff. We don't want you playing with a handicap. I would feel much better if I took your tag -- legit. ;D Hope to see you. Ron

All this time, I thought playing golf with a handicap was supposed to make your score better.

Ron put me in charge of which holes we'll play for this fifth Sunday singles round. Apparently he has enough faith in me that I won't custom-tailor it to my strengths. I really wanted to put together a safari round, but (1) RD does it better than anyone else, (b) I'm hoping RD puts together the standard fall safari round before his wife pops; that should give us another possible tag exchange, and (iii) Sunday afternoons can get crowded, where safari isn't optimal. I thought about going funky and putting Sunday's singles round at Fellowship, but opted otherwise. Same goes for braving the jungle round that would be Liberty.
So, for Crockett, I tried to select a course layout where there were a variety of birdies available. I also wanted to include holes with swing, where a bad shot requires some serious salvaging or settling for bogeys.
1 WHITE – the early trees come into play. They shouldn’t, but they do. Distance-wise, there’s still a birdie available for heavy-heavers. 2 RED – White requires an upshot but the left treeline comes into play from either tee. 3 WHITE – Escape the gap or pay the price. Also, my boys prefer the tunnel. 4 WHITE – Both OB and the tree come into play. Or play it safe and you’re looking at a long upshot over the crest. 5 WHITE - Another easy 4 or 5 if you don’t get past the red tee’s canopy. 6 RED – Get the birdies when they’re available. 7 RED – Get the birdies when they’re available. 8 RED – Probably the best ace run out here. 9 WHITE – Ron talked me into it. Stay in bounds for an easy 4. Go OB for an easy 5. 10 RED - Get the birdies where they’re available. 11 RED – Personally, I think the whites are easier to get around the pole. Red puts the mess on the right more into play. 12 RED – Meh. Wish it was in the long basket. 13 ALT/RED - Get the birdies where they’re available. 14 RED – I lied. This is the easiest ace run. Proof: I've witnessed two here in the last six months. 15 WHITE – What sign in the middle of the fairway? 16 WHITE – Now that they’ve cleared the gap, it’s a fun challenge. 17 WHITE – Gonna make you work. A 3 should gain ground on the field. 18 WHITE – Want to get to the basket? Better void the forest on the right.
That comes out to an even split of reds and whites. It's as "fair" as I can make it without integrating a handicap. And hey, the #1 tag is up for grabs.
I’ll print out a dozen or so of these hole layouts so we’ll have enough for each group.
See you Sunday at 2:00.
