How did Par 2 golf go? The rumble was awesome! I talked to several families that would like to come out and join us for doubles, including the second place finisher in the 10 and under division. Another dad is excited at the fact that he could bring his daughter. Most people didn't really know about the club, and how family friendly it is. What can we do to promote that more? Do we have "junior bag tags"? Can we post some signs up anywhere? Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th! Get the colors out of your bag and into the air!

Sounds like a 42 (6 over) was the best round for Par 2 golf. Richard Godel hit an "Ace-terisk" on hole 8 with his drop in from the white tee, but I think that was the only faux 1.
Ron concocted some goofy golf doubles on Friday and we had a sizeable turnout yesterday at FBC. With the current rotation heavily weighted toward Crockett, I'm usually up for new and interesting ways to play.
Bring out the fams; the Beckerlings would love to have peers. We don't have junior bag tags (yet).

I believe the decision was made for August's fifth Sunday to play stupid doubles. Holes 1-6 - best shot, both players from white tees. Hole 7-12 - alternating shots from red tees. Hole 13-18 - worst shot, both players from red tees. Note: once either partner holes out, that score may be recorded. No need to have both players hole out. That's not stupid, that's just dumb.
Good seeing a dozen brave enough to face the 100 degree temperature today. Enjoyed it.

Fellas, We need to come up with a Plan B for this coming Sunday. Normally on the first week we would be at the Fellowship Church course, but this Sunday they have a huge Party on the Lawn. Too much going on for us to be there.
Plan B?
BTW, I will be at the Party on the Lawn. Ron

Has Liberty been cleaned up yet?
If not, should we stick to Crockett or head somewhere else? I can do either but need to be home between 5-5:30.
Last week's dummy doubles was a blast! If people are up for that kind of stupidity again, I'm in. Or another kind of stupidity. I don't discriminate.

I'm going to play the tournament in Martin, TN on Saturday, and probably won't make it to doubles on Sunday. So as usual, my opinion is moot. That certainly doesn't prevent me from sharing it though.
I think it's still too early to be thinking about Liberty. I last walked it about three weeks ago. At that point, the tree blocking eight's fairway was still there (I posted a picture of it on May 2) . . . as evidenced by this, it doesn't seem that Franklin Parks has done much (any) work there over the summer, so there was a summer's worth of additional storm clutter as well.
To rephrase, the full course wasn't playable on May 2. It was less playable three weeks ago than it was on May 2. I'm not counting on it being playable until we clean it up some, and I personally would rather wait until we have a couple of frosts under our belt before starting the clean-up.
I think the best idea for Sunday is to still play Fellowship and embrace the added challenge. This is the part where my opinion is moot.

My sons have spoken. They've told me I'm going to play Barfield. So that's where the Becker clan shall be. 2:00. Feel free to join us.

Ok, so, not knowing where exactly we are meeting, I'm going to go to Crockett. I will not have enough time to go to barfield. Either way, everybody enjoy a great round tomorrow!

Back at Crockett this week, depending on the weather, of course.
According to unnamed sources - seriously, their cruel parents gave them no names - Liberty is playable again. Unless this weekend's storms change that status, we'll bring that back into the rotation for 10/19.

You can find the action on a rotating schedule;
1st Sunday (of the month) at Fellowship Bible Church DGC for Doubles
2nd Sunday - Crockett Park Doubles
3rd Sunday Liberty Park DoublesNOTE: Liberty is back in rotation
4th Sunday - Crockett Park for Singles Round ( A Bag Tag Event) If you don't have a WCDGC Bag Tag, worry not; you can play without one or buy one for $10 bucks.
5th Sunday - Crockett Park Doubles
Every Sunday Tee off at 2:00 pm Come a bit early to sign up. It is true; the cities won't let us have an entry fee. But, the competition is real and the fun is free.

Next Sunday (4/5) is Easter. Usually it'd be at Fellowship, but I've heard rumors they'll be using some of that field for an egg hunt. As much as I'd like to hit unsuspecting children over the head with flying discs, I already have three sons as targets. For that and other reasons, I won't be out there this Sunday. Instead, I recommend people playing Crockett or another course.
