Maybe this shouldn't go in the startup threads, but you've all played enough rounds with my boys that I figured I could post/brag here without any objections.
This year, the boys started playing full rounds as best disc. With rare exceptions, they no longer use my drives and we usually wait for them to hole out. A few weeks ago, at Crockett, each son had an independent par - their drive, upshot, and putt for a 3. Justin parred hole #1, Scooter parred #5, and Josh parred #14. I believe they finished Crockett's red tees with a combined +13. Considering they're now 10, 8, and 7 years old, I've nothing but pride and admiration for them.
Last week at Fellowship, both Scooter and Shu hit deuces from alt-alt tees - more kid tees than anything. (Hole #3 from the water meter; hole #4 from 6's red tee.)
Yesterday, Shu accomplished another first. Crockett #5, red tee. He outdrove the hole, then made a 60-footer for his first deuce!
Justin has developed a flick and backhand putt to compliment his Roller King status; he considers what shot will work best and is improving his mental game along with his physical performance.
Scooter is chucking the snot out of his drives with some kind of loopy hyzer flicks which travel upwards of 100 feet. Not shabby for a seven year old. More importantly, they go towards the hole.
Can't remember the last tantrum. Oh wait. Yes I can. It was me.
Thanks to everyone for your patience and either genuinely enjoying playing with my kids or faking it incredibly convincingly. Your encouragement and help are appreciated. Thanks for investing in their lives with your good attitudes and sportsmanship. It makes a difference.
