If anybody has extra time this week, let it be known. I've got GPS markers for the tees and targets for the front 9 and I'm ready to tackle the woods. Let's charge ahead and make this an 18 holer.

I love the enthusiasm. I am going to try and play one day after work this week (either Tuesday or Thursday). I could be enticed to do some work as well.
I have a friend coming in from out of town on Friday. We are going to play Cedar Hill, Seven Oaks, and then come and play Crockett. If anyone wants to join us, give me a call.

So, what is left to clear for the front 9?
1. Some heavy mowing with the Brush Hog. We will rent it one more time. Maybe in about 3 weeks we will be ready.
2. A few vines, and limbing some trees behind target 5 A, on the left.
3. Clear 6,7,8. Chainsaws and pruners is about half of the work. Hauling the brush back to the trail is the other half. We will make 3 piles that will later be chipped by the city.
We will announce the next weekend workday soon. In the mean time, we are looking for some weekday volunteeers.
Scott R. will be the contact for these workdays. Post here to get in contact with him. He will tell us when and where he will be working.
In other words, he will be there ANYWAY. Scott is the king of momentum. Please help if you can. Maybe you could donate one evening.
Thanks, Ron

Scott,
I plan on being at Crockett Park Tuesday afternoon as soon after 5:00 as I can get there from Cool Springs. Are you going to be there? I'm ready to work.

Same story for me. As soon after 5 as possible. I've only got one of everything except a slingblade for weeds so if you have any stuff bring it on.

I"M TIRED!!!
Well, Scott and I made a little head way today. We were able to cut through enough of 6, 7, and 8 where you can at least walk the hole without attracting too many sticker bushes (Scott and I took many for the team when it comes to those stupid sticker thingies. Lots of blood was shed for this course. LOL). It is very thick on these three holes. We will definitely need to rent the bush hof thinger-ma-bobber to clear much of this.

Walk is the key word. And barely at that. There's no way a disc is getting through.... yet. If you go out there, it's going to take pruners, a chainsaw ( if you have one) and several drinks to get 6,7 and 8 in shape. If you don't know, these holes are past the original front 9 and down the big grassy hill across the walking path. They go through the woods. 6 is on the left side of the path and 7 and 8 are on the right side of the path. After 6, there's a green wooden marker in the ground that says 14 with an arrow. Follow that to 7. The tee box is past the wooden bench. 8 finishes out near the walking path by the clearing with a big power tower.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is wrong with the several original holes? Are they going to be part of the course?

Short answer: yes. The new indoor complex was built on part of the old front 9 though. So it had to be re-arranged. 1 is the old 2 2 is the old 3. 3 is the old 4 but longer. 4 is new. 5 tees of from the top of the hill by the woods. 6,7, and 8 go through the woods and 9 is in the clearing behind it which leads to the back 9 and makes this course 18 holes atlast! The baskets have been ordered and will be in soon.

I've got family/work stuff this weekend, but can do some work on Tuesday after work if most of it can be done with limb-loppers. We could also move #17 someplace less insane if you want. =)
Also, just so everyone knows, the place is *crawling* with *ticks*. I removed 21 of them from myself and my clothes after playing the back 9 (and scrabbling thru the jungle several times in attempted retrieval of misthrows) on Sunday.

Hey guys. Clearing these last 3 holes if VERY do-able.
Todd and Scott blazed a trail in just a few hours on Tuesday evening. I was able to get a lot done in just an hour and half Wed afternoon.
In just a few evenings, we could knock this out. Let me, or Don, or Todd, or Scott know when you want to come and we will show you where to pruneth. And bring a non-skilled brush dragger with you. It goes much faster.

Walked the wood holes again today. Don, Wood, and Scott made marvelous consultants. The fairways are much longer than originally anticipated.
So, a slight increase in pruning needs.
Watch here for workday info.
Thanks, Ron

I put a major dent in the woods on 6. I actually got to the point it was time to chainsaw and found out the chain on my saw won't rotate. Otherwise that hole would be looking really good. There's a pretty decent trail established on 6,7 and 8 now. So far, the brush piles are IN the woods. If anybody wants to do some low impact work, you could just drag the brush out. Put it somewhere out of the way so it won't kill any existing turf or attack any joggers. I'll be out of town until Wednesday. I DID get the c.d. graphics for the tee signs. Someone has removed the tee signs from the old front 9.
