Hey crazy golfers!
It looks like we're going to play the 8th Annual Crazy 8 on May 24. This is a casual tournament where we play 8 courses in one day! We start at 6:30 am and finish at about 8:00 pm. This year we'll pick up Crockett and drop Triple Creek. So we'll play:
Crockett Seven Oaks Two Rivers Cedar Hill Sanders Ferry Cedars of Lebanon Sharp Springs Barfield Crescent
Meet at Crockett at 6:15 am. First 15 get a free T-shirt. Last year three people finished 9 courses (we played Henry Horton just for fun), averaging 58 minutes per course. Ron started out with us, but wimped out at 10:30 after only 54 holes.
Contact Dave or Richard for more information.
Dave the editer: eight three two, oh four seven nine, evenings.

In that order?

Yes, in that order.
It takes about an hour on each course, not counting drive time. We'll probably stop for lunch after Cedar Hill. We generally run into people playing doubles at Cedars of Lebanon.

For those of you wondering what the distance between each course is and how much traveling total you will be facing.

Forget the distance between the courses. I'm more concerned whether or not my arm (and legs) can manage the distance of the courses themselves.
(Sure, some people can cut down on strides by going directly at the basket; others of us aren't so fortunate and prefer to get maximum usage of the course... If there's a tree way off to the right, by golly, I want to see it up close!)

I'm sure you'll be fine.. Forget the distance between the courses. I'm more concerned whether or not my arm (and legs) can manage the distance of the courses themselves. Ambroze: In your total distance, you left us parked, exhausted, in M'boro. Add about 20 to get back to Brentwood. In the past, we have driven about 150 miles round trip, but that included a late evening detour to Horton.
Becker: I estimate that a Crazy person walks about 10 miles, but it's spread out over a whole day. I'm over 50, and I did it. If you played even par on all 8 courses you would throw 432 times--not counting "two from the truck." Of course, I threw a LOT more than that. I could putt all day (in fact, I did: back and forth and back and forth). It's the 144 drives that turned my arm to a noodle.

Hey Crazy golfers!
You'll see I changed the date to May 24. We had to wait until one of our golfers was done with finals. I hope this works out.

This sounds just crazy enough to make me want to do it. I'm in.

Scotch, Ambroze, Becker, I am registered to play this year. I hope the three of you can make it too. We have a lot of fun. I know you can physically make it because you can rest in the car between rounds. The challenge is mentally exhausting more than physically. When you are tired, you forget the concentration needed to continue. Hope to see you there. Richard

Some people at the CCC expressed interest in the Crazy 8. Come on out to Crockett on the 24th and join us! Even if you can only play two or three courses, it's a fun time.
Players' meeting in the parking lot at 6:15 am, tee off at 6:30.

No fee, no prizes, no payout, no points, no sanction -- but everybody gets a T-shirt. And the bragging rights are unbeatable! How many people can say they played eight different courses in one day?
And if you win, you can brag for a whole year! All you have to do is beat a couple of 50-year-old fogies and a 16-year-old kid. I'll even put bag tag #19 on the line.

This sounds awesome. If I lived in Middle Tennessee, I'd be there.
As it is, I'll be in Arkansas on that date.

Saturday was a great day! The weather was perfect! Here are the results:
Dave shot 464 (avg. 58), Richard shot 471, Grant shot 488.
We played eight courses: Crockett, Seven Oaks, Two Rivers, Cedar Hill, Sanders Ferry, Triple Creek, Sharp Springs, and Henry Horton. No course took over an hour. We averaged less than three minutes per hole. We finished at Henry Horton at 6:14.
We put 182 miles on the minivan.
This implies there are only three crazy discgolfers in Nashville. Personal observation belies that conclusion.
