In our meeting with Franklin City parks, they announced a new option to the existing parks.
They would like to add 1 - 3 disc golf targets (holes) to most of their parks. WCDGC has been asked to guide them in this endeavor.
If you live near one of these parks, contact me and we will make sure your park gets done first. Oh, and you have to help.

Hey Ron! Quite an old thread I know, but I've only been frequenting the board for a few weeks now... I am a Franklin resident and would love to see a hole or two or three...or nine...or eighteen... at Jim Warren park (less than a mile from home) and/or at Aspen Grove park (3 minute walk from work). I'm willing(!) and able(?) to do any manual labor that may be required, although there is the issue of liability insurance . At the Liberty grand opening last week, I did mention both parks to the director (can't remember her name at the moment), but thought a word from you might hold a bit more clout. Good luck at the Worlds! Cameron

Cameron, After last week's opening it is easy to see that the city/park staff are great supporters of the sport. I haven't typed the word "ironic" in a while, so here goes --- ironic ain't it? After they get past their Harlingdale farm opening (later this week), they will have some time to look forward to other stuff. We (WCDGC) will be meeting with the staff sometime in early August. Liberty stuff will be talked about mostly, but looking forward to other 18's (at parks that don't exist yet) and the OneOrThreeBasket parks will also be talked about. It will be a good time to get an update on where they are on that project. Specific parks have only been mentioned a couple of times, but when they are ready, we will start desiging the layout that suits them best. NOTE --- don't expect any targets or tee pads until financial goodtimes are visited upon the city budget. Safety in a multi-use park is hard to come by. Our options may be limited, but most parks will lend themselves to at least a couple of holes. They wanted it to serve 4 overlapping purposes. A place for DG'ers to play/practice on the way home from work, a neighborhood option to introduce folks to DG, an option for parents/kids to play between ball games, and a healthy use of under-utiilized land. I will highly encourage the Disc golfing residents to jump in on the design team of the park closest to home. Consider yourself -- signed up!! Ron
