Ryan, Oh, yeah! Rain or shine. The mini is still on.
For the mini, we usually lump Advanced and Intermediate in one division --- Rec and Novice in the other. In the past, we usually let the 2nd division play the reds. Once or twice, when we had no greenies, we let them decide.
We will give the first timers a 101 on the rules; mostly marking, stance, courtesy stuff.
See ya'll Saturday.

Yep. It's on.
If you, too, are planning on coming -- and your sig. other thinks that playing DG on a cloudy 45 day is crazy --Try this.
Tell them what a great thing it would be to sit and watch a Christmas parade on a cloudy 45 day. This is just like that -- only we won't be sitting and we won't be watching.
Not so crazy afterall. ;D
BTW, We have a new white tee for 10- you will love it And a new white tee for 16 - you will love to hate it!
And a mini-tournament only placement for #18. Can you spell i-s-l-a-n-d ??
Ron
PS. I installed new concrete tees on Thursday. They will be dry by Saturday.

Ron, (and all others) Great, I cant wait to see the concrete, and the island. and my first tourny. For those of you out there that dont visit www.dgcoursereview.com, you should really try it out. as with the wcdgforum, i check out the dgcr site everyday. they have a daily course photo(more on that in a minute) they post tons of reviews, you can set a profile and chat about random dg stuff. in your profile, you can add the courses you've played, add your favorites, add a wish list..........i could go on and on.....check it out. I just added tourn. info about sat.(little late, but its a start. I will add other stuff too. (this is where the pics come in. If my tourny parntners dont mind tommorow, I'll be taking some random pics of the holes to post on there. the course update was a little out of date stating "07 course being installed, some holes playable" I added, all holes playable, luck trees removed on 7.....stuff like that. This website gets a TON of hits......the more reviews and updates, the more "Crockett" is visible on there.........the more good words about the course, the more people see how great it is.......................could mean more members....more tournaments.....more $$$$$....more concrete.........more volunteers.....more good on all fronts. anyway.........check it out, and i'll see ya'll tommorow......hot coffee in tow

I love a Christmas parade so I'll be there! Oh wait.. did you say disc golf? Oh I guess that will do. I play better when it's cold because I don't have time to over think the shot. Just want to throw and get my hand back in my pocket.

Ok, let me tell you about #18 first.
Imagine a yellow rope perpendicular to the fairway (the line from the target to the tee). The rope crosses the fairway at the existing target.
If you can't imagine it. That is ok. The rope is still there. It is actually tied to the target.
Everything past the existing target is OB -- think of it as OB water.
Now a new target is placed about 100' past the existing target--- hmmm.... about 10 o'clock. The new target is sitting on an inbounds island. Inbounds is marked by some green flags. Maybe a 45' -50' circle.
I left the flags there, but brought home the temp target.
Here is what the guys on my card did: A: Very nice long drive about 60' foot short of the existing target (and the OB line); upshot to the island; 20' putt for a 3.
B; Medium nice drive about 100' short of the OB line; upshot to the island; missed a 25' putt; in for a 4.
C; Medium ugly hzyer drive about 160' short. Went for the island and missed -- landed in the "water" long and right about 15'; Add a penalty throw; now throwing 4 back at the OB line near the existing target; upshot to the island; made a 15' putt for a circle 5.
D; Medium ugly hzyer drive about 160' short. Went for the island and missed -- landed in the "water" short about 10'; Add a penalty throw; now throwing 4 back at the OB line near the existing target; upshot to the island; made a 5' putt for a circle 5.
Congrats to Dave for the 3 on 18 ---- and taking the round by 2 strokes. Bagtags did some serious changing.
Oh, and RD had some sweet upshots on 3, 10, and 17. 3's on all. He ain't no Rec player no mo'.
I really liked the island hole. It may need some tweaking, but if you get a chance, play it. The rope and flags are still there.
A reminder of how OB is handled. 1. You have to imagine the line extends all the way to the woods and the path, even though I ran out of length.
2. If your disc lands completley past the rope and never made it to the island, it is OB. Take a penalty stroke and mark it where it was last inbounds-- which is up on the ridge somewhere along the yellow rope line. You get 1 meter relief from the edge.
3. If your disc LANDS in the island and bounces out in the OB area, Take a penalty stroke and mark it where it was last inbounds --- somewhere along the edge of the island.
4. Now this next part is an execption to the typical PDGA ruling, but if we use this placement in a sanctioned tourney -- I will apply for the rules exception as follows. -- If your disc FLIES over the inbounds island and then lands surrounded by OB --- too bad. Take your penalty stroke and mark your lie back up on the ridge by the yellow rope. The reason is simple -- there won't be any arguing or judgement calls (by either enemies or friends) as to whether your island shot "broke the inbounds plane" of the island. Your neighborhood TD has spoken.
Tell me what you think of 18B???

I was looking forward to it the whole game. I love taking risks on shots. The reward is worth it if the shots land where you want them too. The hill adds the right challenge. depending on where your drive lands, you may not be able to see the edge of the "island" making it even more of a risk.
It was a great day. Thanks to Ron, Dave, and scott for all the tips. I'm ready for the next one. Lets hope for a warm frony first week in January.
Scott, if we play glow this week, I'll post here.
