Crockett Work Day. Sat 3rd, 9am - Noon
Gather up all your buds. It's time to get the course ready for the Ice Bowl on the 31st.
List of things to do. 1. Install 4 "sample" temporary tee pads on holes 2 and 3.
*We have to get approval from park director to install the rest. * Bill B. and crew from Athens, AL is bringing the tiller. YEAH!! * I will get carpet, level, and 2x4 screed boards (for leveling) * Possiblility of prepping some other tee pad sites at the same time. * Bring axes, shovels, mattocks, etc. * Anybody got one of those dirt packer thingys ?
2. Spread mulch pile on at 7 tee area to washed areas on 6,7, 8. * Bring wheelbarrows, scoops, pitchforks, rakes, etc.
3. Clean up the recently bushhogged areas on 10, 18, 12, 14. * We hope to get these areas clean enough for the turf mowers. * Bring gloves, small children (they are great at dragging brush) ;D
9am in the parking lot. Will wrap at noon. Good chance of some golf in the afternoon.
Thanks Ron Pittman

I'm going to make an executive decision. In other words --- if this backfires -- you can blame it on me.
As planned --- we are going to install 4 sample tee pads (holes 2 and 3) on Saturday --- so the park director can approve the "look".
But, in addition ---- I am making plans to install about 20 more in the areas that can't be seen from the road or a path. These pads are hidden to everyone but DGers --- it won't really matter if they are redneck ugly.
That said --- Stop now and call or email anyone you know who plays Crockett -- and ask them to donate 2 or 3 hours on Saturday morning. They can work on the muddy mess that we call a tee pad that they hate the most.
We are still looking for more carpet. We have some, but as of today we need more. 6x12's and 5x10's. Call me if you find some. Earth tones are preffered.
Thanks, Ron Pittman Three seven seven- two three three seven

Sorry I couldn't make it out to help. My daughter was in from Florida, and she left today. I won't see her again until March, so I wanted to spend as much time as possible with her.
What was the verdict on the Tee pads?

Jeff, Glad you got to visit with your daughter. Family trumps DG everytime. And in a real SoapBoxyWay ---- Most of WCDGC is made up of folks who understand balance. DG isn't our one and only passion. Many of us have family, jobs, faiths, yards, and dogs --- that also deserve some of our time. It's a good thing.

That said --- The Workday was a huge success. Special thanks to the tiller crew (Bill, Roger, and Greg --- all the way from Athens, AL --- Wow!)
Had close to a dozen folks working on tee pads and mulch. RD and crew got the mulch piles at 7 and 11 spread out. NICE.
Carpet Tee Pads? The install crews were awesome. We did a bunch. Out of 38 total pads (counting 13 Atlternate) Here is the recap;
* 2 On the walk-path by design (1w, 4w) * 11 Finished!!! * 5 Tilled, leveled, Needs carpet * 9 Tilled, NOT leveled yet, needs carpet * 9 Not started yet. (includes moving 7w, 11w off the path) * 2 Not started yet, serious work (5w, 7r) I need a block laying DG'er to call me pronto about these pads. Know one?_____ 38
Bottom Line If we get carpet and leveling done on the 14 we got started, we only have 11 to go!!
To level, all you need is a flat shovel, 6' screed board (2x4 or similar) , and a level. Takes about 30 minutes per hole. Tacking down the carpet takes 2 minutes. We need to finish these 14 THIS WEEK. Who wants to help?
We still need earthtone colored carpet. Cut in 5x10 and 6x12. I think about 6 each for now.

RD, Looks like weather will keep workers and even players off the course until Thursday. I will try to hook up and get the spikes.
Maybe we can get something done Thursday and Friday before the snow comes on Saturday.
