so Ron has all the gear, I'm unavalible to run it for a couple weeks while my son is in town visiting.
lets plan to resume doubles shortly into August.

Kudos to Franklin City Parks!!! what a fantastic job they did on this course. the tees, the signs, the multched fairways, the log lined paths and islands, it really looks great.
and oh yeah, how does it play??..........its pretty dang tough. very wooded, very hilly, you'll feel the burn in your legs on a couple holes.
I was only able to play the 10 red tees due to time and well I was was +6.
a friend told me he was +5 from reds, and +13 from whites...............shew!!
get out there and see what you got!

This is awesome news! Some of you know I was hoping to play this course last year, and during my Christmas visit. I'm sure I'll be out there again this year around Christmas and will be hitting this course up for sure. Really looking forward to it!

Well I got to play the whites yesterday. did the full 20 actually. what a great course, its nice to have something new in town, and the difficulty here is amazing.
well placed drives are rewarding, anything off the fairway can be brutal.
#6 white is SWEET!! i could empty my bag here and call it a day. #1 white is very deceptive, i've overthrown it each time, it must take a good decision on speed and direction from both tees actually.
saw three deer last night too, it was as if they were just watching me play. standing there staring.
anyway, its a fun course.
I can imagine in the future that this course could be expanded to hold 18 holes, a few more in the woods, and a few slightly open ones, but until then no one should think that 10 holes is not enough, both tees create 20 very different holes

One of the better courses I've seen in a while. Can't believe all the bag hooks and signage on the course. Good omen for the day, my first ace since moving to Tennessee, hole one. Good thing too, would probably have flown another 50 ft past downhill if not for chains.
Until they get a chance to bomb the course, make sure to bring some Deet. Ticks were very happy to see me, and a couple got a free ride back to Columbia.
Scogo.

You couldn't be more right about the ticks--Whenever I talk to people about the course thats their only complaint. Its pretty bad--I played a round then went to see GI Joe and I found the little nanobots all over me--I mustve knocked 10 of them off in the theatre. I imagine all you would have to do is mention the lime disease/swine flu risk to the park service and they'll spray with a quickness.

I played Liberty for the first time today and shot +4 with one birdie the first 20 holes then +6 the second time through with 5 birdies. Deep Woods off and high socks kept the ticks off me completely. That's a real nice course but the second round through almost killed me. The up hill drives can be murder on your score. And fatigue can definitely become a factor. I had one drive from the reds hit a tree on the left 15 feet from the tee pad and bounce back behind the tee for my second shot!!!

I consider myself a pretty good disc golfer but this course will kill you if you let it. My best score is (-1) from the Reds and on the second round I hit (+5) for a +4 total for 20 holes. I played it last week and I think I ended up with +7 for the 20 holes played. I normally try to hit par or better and I average from -4 to +4 depending on the course. I really have my work cut out for me when it comes to ever hitting par or better here. The holes that normally kill me are: 3, 8, and 9; the majority of my bogeys and double bogeys are on these holes. Get off the fairways here and there’s a very high percentage that it’s a bogey. Better get those birdies on 1, 4, or 7.

Scores?? Ouch. Do I have to tell?
I played the whole 20 this morning with Scott (scogo) and John (woody) and had a most nice time. We even met a lid-throwing newbie that finished up with us.
Instead of whites first and then reds (or versy-visa), we played Barber Pole Golf. Red1, white2, red3, white4, red5, etc until all 20 were played. It seems more like a full round of golf instead of half longs, half shorts. Apparently my mind is easily tricked.
By our second circuit, I was beginning to make some better course management decisions. In other words, I played some of the holes for a 3 instead of a 2. Better outcome, less risk.
I shot +5 on the first loop and +1 on the second, for a total of +6 for the 20 holes. I expect to shoot closer to even the next time. We shall see.
I am a bit concerned that there is no real easy way to warm up before you start. You know, sorta' like how we empty our bag at Crockett throwing from WhiteTee4 to #3 target?? Anybody solved this problem at Liberty?
Oh, and ticks. I spayed a bit of OFF my socks and shoe tops and didn't have a one on me that I could tell. Maybe ya'll have carried them all off?

Oh, I almost forgot. I saw the city park arborist at the course this morning. He is writing an article about the course and urban forestry in one of his trade journals. Kool.
He also said that late fall and winter, that he will be bringing a work crew out to Liberty to clean up a hole or 2 each week. They want to pick up fallen logs, trim up the eye-level thorns, etc. Roughly 25 or 30 feet out from each fairway. These guys are just awesome.
