I was just thinking.
We are hoping to make a course map available soon. One that is a decently accurate version made on a graphics program.
But, I was wondering if any of the aerial view websites have a recent shot of Crockett?
Might be nice to layer the map on top of the actual satellite view of the land.
Since NEITHER thinking NOR graphics are my strongest areas, I am hoping someone else might guide us.
Thanks, Ron

Ron, I've used aerial photos to assist in drawing several disc golf maps. They are great, if you know where the course is. However, since you usually can't see the baskets and tees (sometimes you can), you have to know the course, to do a good map from an aerial shot. I'll be down there in a couple months. Promise to play the course a few times! Then maybe I can whip one up for you. I'm at work now, but will post back later with a link to some of my maps. -- John

I went out on Saturday and with a little help, found all the holes. I will go back out in the coming weeks and freehand a sketch of the course and then put it into a Visio diagram and post it online.
If someone would like to meet me out there to help me "cartograph" the landscape, I find 2 heads can be better than one sometimes...

bear, Send me an email. crockettdiscgolf at charter.net
I will hook you up with the guys on the map detail. Expect to hear from Dave and Johnny.
What we have now is a graphic rendering of the course. It was built on top of an aerial view that was old. The good thing is that the boundaries, paths, roads, and tree lines are accurate. The new soccer building, tree line changes, path changes, tees, targets, and fairways are prettty doggone close. A non-golfer got us this far.
This is the map that will be used for the large entry kiosk sign.
But, for players use, we want to make one available for print and online. We don't have to start completly over -- This version could easily be based on the kiosk map. provided we clean up some of the slight errors in perspective.
That is what the map detail guys are working on now. Your sketching might be exactly what is needed to make this happen.
Thanks,
Ron

Any update on this map? I would love to come out and play, but I don't want to be too frustrated looking for the next hole.

Heya Honkeytiger,
Progress has been made, and we should have a map coming soon. There are various iterations of the map and we just need to consolidate and update what we have and we'll be ready to go. We're hoping to have something in the coming weeks.

Any progress on the map? I'll be on my way to the area next weekend 12/21, and am REALLY hoping I can see where the course is (I know where the park is, but don't know the course at all and have never played there). Any chance someone could send me even a rough copy of the map as it is now?

Bone,
I'm going to guess that we won't have a digital map before the 21st... my apologies. It appears we're having a hard time putting our hands on the original files, so we may be facing starting over from scratch. If you have access to a fax machine, I can fax you a hard copy which will be better than nothing. Let me know.
Thanks,

Boneman, Navigation is not too bad, wish tee signs were in, but alas, no.
Any number of us can guide you over the weird spots with a 2 minute phone call. Wish I was available to play, but family stuff abounds.
Bear, let me try again to get the city grahpic lady and the originals. Email me with the techy names of what I need to ask for.
Ron
Aw shoot, Dave the editer will sureyl find the typos in this one.

I'm here ... hoping to make it over to Crockett Park this afternoon. When we left CO, we had 4 inches of fresh snow on the ground ... love the weather down here! If anyone has a map, sketch, whatever ... send it to me!

Found the course, and played two rounds this afternoon. I like the course a lot, great fun. Managed to shoot +5 from the white tees ... Would have been better but I'll blame the wind. I had no problem finding my way around the course. 12 was a little tricky, but during my warm up round I figure it out, and on the second round went for it over the trees! Came up just a few yards short of the other side and good enough for a good out.
