Grant's friend Josh is demonstrating the classic definition of insanity: he's planning on joining us.

Played Shelby yesterday on my lunch break. Yeah. Hot. Sunny. Open. Uphill hikes. Some of those are going to feel rather unpleasant. At least Crockett has the mercy to put 9's basket under the tower so that hill only happens once. I anxiously await this year's display of a corporate lack of intelligence; I'll look for my shirt this week. (If someone wants to print new ones, I'd pitch in.)

Come play 8 courses. It will truly feel like the longest day of the year! Did some quick number crunching -- I was curious how fast we have to play to finish reasonably. I found a number for course length by averaging the short and long for the course on disc golf course review. That's a fudge, because hills (Two Rivers) and more-technical (Sharp, I guess) courses will take longer, but assuming that playtime is approximately proportional to average course length here's the times we will need to finish with a little time to spare before sundown. (I realize we can play on into the gloaming for a little while after sunset, but this does give an idea of what we will need to do: Park Travel Start Length H:MM End Seven Oaks n/a 5:45 5600 1:20 7:05 Two Rivers 0:15 7:20 5375 1:17 8:36 Cedar Hill 0:18 8:54 6000 1:26 10:20 Sander's Ferry 0:25 10:45 6715 1:36 12:21 Shelby Park 0:35 12:56 5500 1:19 2:15 Sharp Springs 0:37 2:52 6000 1:26 4:17 Crockett Park 0:40 4:57 5800 1:23 6:20 Fellowship 0:10 6:30 5600 1:20 7:50
For what its worth: I don't know if it is a happy coincidence of playing 7 oaks first or what , but having all the short drives in the morning (when we are relatively fresh) and the longer drives in the middle of the day (when we are meh) will be nice. Down side, based on Jim's comment: we will hit Shelby at the hottest part of the day.

Just a refresh: Crazy 8 this Saturday. Tee off at 5:45 am at 7 Oaks.
Looks like it's going to be a warm day. I recommend drinking a 20-ounce sport drink during every course and eating a piece of fruit between courses. We can grab a burger at the drive-thru after Sander's Ferry.
Bring a couple extra pairs of shoes and several pairs of socks. There's a chance of rain on Saturday, so bring dry clothes and a towel. Actually, a shower at about 2 o'clock at Shelby would feel good.
Looks like there will be about 10 crazy people. See you there!

Bryan, thanks for the numbers. That's why you get the big bucks. We should try to knock about 10 minutes off each of those course times. That would allow time to change shoes and water the trees. And we'll probably run into civilians at Sander's Ferry, Shelby, and Sharp Springs.
Crazy 8 is a different kind of game. Don't think. Step up, throw, pick up your disk, and keep walking. Don't worry about who's out or who has the box. Don't use a mini--don't even flip your disk. Just step up and throw. We've played 7 Oaks in 50 minutes before.
Richard and I are going to play doubles again. We failed to conquer the day last year. But we played fast (that's probably why we failed).

Those are the times we have from the time we park our cars until the time we park them and start them up again. Time actually on the course should be less.

I'm not sure if anyone is looking to ride share, but if you're coming from the south and want to meet at Fellowship rather than 7 oaks, I can be there at 5:15 to pick up one or two more people (already spoke with Jim B.). I'll have my cooler in the back, and plenty of room for another one if you would like. Let me know.

Crap. I rolled my ankle. Wearing a brace and trying to see how much it hurts today. If you don't hear from me tonight, Bryan, I'll see you tomorrow morning at FBC at quarter after five.

I'm no Willis Reed, but I'll be there. K-Man is out. See you at FBC tomorrow at stupid o'clock. ('Course, all you old folks are already in bed.)

Great fun today! Thanks to everyone involved! I took a nice long hot shower once I got home, and I feel 100% better. . . . wait, scratch that. The loss of muscle control made me hit too many zeroes. I feel 10% better.

We had a great day! Finished at 8:34 in the dark.
We ran into slow traffic at Sanders. Maybe next year we'll go from Cedar Hill to Naval-gazer's Hill, then add Cedars of Lebanon before Smyrna.
We're missing a couple of scorecards: Becker & Bryan at 7O; Bryan and Sean at CH. If you have a scorecard, send me the numbers. If you remember your score, at least send me that.
Thanks!
