I am a local who has played over 1000 courses in over 20 states. I really liked my crockett experience, but would suggest a few subtle differences/options.
1. Will it ever be possible to add a few holes to the course? For example between 5 and 6 you could have a killer hyzer hole that starts at the old no.4 tee and turns around and down the slope toward no.6 tee.
2. I really miss hole no.12 when it was located in the middle of the tree. That hole would be much more memorable to people from out of town than where it is now. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to go so far around the trees. No. 12 could easily be turned into 2 very fun yet challenging holes.
3. I understand that no.13 is eventually going to be built up, but for right now why not place the basket on the ground? I was playing with a visitor from Florida and they were "turned off" by the basket just perched up in the air.
Please don't interpret these opinions as criticism. I really like the course and look forward to playing it regularly in the future. Thanks to all of you who have put in the hard work to make this course a reality.
P.S. what is up with the purple tiger hanging from the tree on no.8?

What do you mean by "turned off"?

I played my first two rounds on the course today. I have no problem with the high basket, thought it made and otherwise straight forward hole a little more interesting! I like the placement of #12, but it was a walk to figure out where to shoot to. Pretty darn fun to try bombing a drive out over those trees. This is great course, and it's going to be really awesome when tee pads and signs are in. Great job guys!

Welcome to Crockett, gentlemen.
Sorry I couldn't join you, but had family Christmas with the in laws and the out laws. Full day.
Valid observations about the course.
The layout for 12 and 13 actually have multiple configurations. It is set in the longest combination of placements now.
The shortest possible placement is still a most cool lineup. 12 target goes to the C pin, aka the cave, 13 tee gets moved to inside the grove below 12C basket --- and shoots to the same #13 elevated target -- hyzer zip up the hill from inside the tree grove.
#12 design in the current long pin is a par 4, Playing around the tree line is a 700' + hole.
If you bomb over the woods and nail it in 3, you just played birdie golf. Us mortals will be pleased with a 4.
The elevated target on 13 is waiting for a dirt mound to be added. IMHO, it will not change the shot (s) required. But, it will keep it from looking so stinking weird.
Got any dirt?
For me, I am still unsure about the distance on white tee 13 (the current tee area -- from the meadow corner)
It is set for 420'. Makes a great spread hole (between a 2 and 3) for the open or advanced player driving 400+.
But, makes another "got make a boring 3" no-spread hole for the bottom end advanced player.
And yet for the intermediate player with a 275+ drive, it once again makes a great spread hole (between 3 and 4). But, honestly -- that is what the red tees are for.
Yeah, yeah, I know, every hole - and every pin placement can't be perfect for every skill level. Just wondering if this hole would be better if it was shorter? Thots??
BTW, I shot a 58 from the whites last Tue. By best so far on that pin set up. Apparently with my typical below average putting - it takes some really clean drives to get a score any lower than that. So, I will take it with no whining.
Ron
Ohh. Just about forgot. The fairway that you see going down the hill towards 6 is a perfect fairway for an awesome hole. It was picked out almost as soon as the new sewer line made that hill side available.
Comma, but, Every ( and I mean Every) possible set up resulted in discs speeding blindly over the hill towards the walking path. I made the unpopular call of pulling the fairway for safety reasons. No one cried more than me. If a deflecting fence magically appears by that path some dark night, then I will be a prime suspect.

Well ... I'm glad I got to play a couple rounds on Saturday. Yesterday I went to the park to play and when teeing off on hole #4 I slipped on the grass/mud and broke my freaking leg bones just above my left ankle! Had to have an ambulance come and haul me off to the hospital (good thing I had my cell phone in my pocket). I'm still in the process of finding out how badly it's broken, but the orthopedic surgeon said I will have to get surgery to put it back together. I may be flying out to Colorado early, haven't figured it all out yet ... I'm taking some pretty good drugs. I was doing my run up to throw, crossing my left foot behind me (x step) when I slipped and all my weight was on the side of my ankle and my right leg just flew up in the air. Probably wouldn't have happened if I were 20 years younger ... but a warning to the older generation ... watch those slippery natural tees ... sh!t happens!
