RD, Go man! I'm on the same page. I don't see how we get a choice. We have to do the temps.
I would like to do Phase I as soon as we can. For our viewers at home --- that means we put in 4 temps pads; White and Red on holes 2 and 3.
Can't move to Phase II until the parks director approves the notion. Once he does that the city will provide the skid loader to level the areas.
Tiller? Yes we certainly need one. Renting is a choice, I am sure.
Carpet? We need a person in charge of procuring, cutting, and storing the carpet. A connection with an installer would be the best. The "tear-out" carpet is being thrown away anyway. It is already in 12' lengths, we just need to cut it in 6' strips. (Except some of the reds get 10'x5')
Maybe we can get the samples in the week after Christmas. I'm good with calling a couple of workdays on some January Saturdays so we can do this before the Ice Bowl. We can always go back and work on the retaining walls later.
Shoot, even if we don't get some of them totally level, we can always adjust them later.
As far as I know, our only expense will be renting a "stomper" and maybe a tiller, and buying some long nails with washers.
My count for the tee pad vote is :
NOW - 2; RD & Ron LATER 0
Vote early and vote often!! We need you!!

If you have the materials, and tools just name a time, I'll be there. I have rakes, picks, shovels. wheel barrows If you need anything, let me know. I'll try to help there. If we set a goal of getting just the approval pads done this weekend, we might be ok without a tiller, the dirt should be soft........really soft actually, with all the rain. picks and rakes would probably handle it. #2 white is fairly flat as it is. #2 and #3 red may require some extra digging. #3 white will be tough for all the roots and small stumps. I would say 4 to 6 of us could get em' knocked out over a weekend. WHOS IN? ? Ron, RD..............Mike should be able to help too Do we have the carpet yet? Will we use any landscape timbers? Can we get together this sunday(dec.28th), say noon to get our plan together at the course. Figure out which tools, which supplies we need, put together a shopping list. I can swing a few bucks. Then If the weather is nice, maybe get a game in too.

OK Eager Beavers, status report;
Tees that need leveling (as in -- don't wait on a workday -- go on and do it to it) 7w 9w 11r 16 r 16w 18r 18w
We need carpet delivered to only 7 tees. (for now) 7w 6x12 16,17,18 w 6x12 16,17,18 r 5x10
Looks like the next work day will actually become a work weekend. Sort of a "come which time you can" event. Given that the Smyrna and Mboro Ice Bowls are on the 17 and 18 ----------it looks like we will schedule some work times for the 24 AND the 25. (If you were planning on going to the Hendersonville IB, maybe you can help out on the 25th)
For our workday, the tee pads that will need your basic tilling, leveling, and carpeting are: 1r 4r 13 r w
The tee pads that will need some serious tilling or timber walls or even a block and backfill are: 5w 7r 13 alternate r w
If we don't have time to fix 5 and 7 before the IB, we can lay carpet on the incline. Better than mud. 13 a can wait until later.
OH, we can get our hands on a bunch of nice, clean christmas tree mulch.
Tell me where on the course you want a dump made, and I will set it up.
Thanks, Ron

Ron, see if they can dump a pile of mulch between the pin of 4 and the white tee of five along the tree line to be spread in those areas. put another by the tees of 6 put one behind the pin of 15 (or if there is an area up the hill by 18 W tee.) or BOTH.
I have some experience with building landscape timber retaining walls, I would like to tackle # 7 red......i wonder how i could get power to a skil saw? Is there a way to get a free load of dirt from somewhere----anyone???
does anyone know who to call about those concrete test cylinders that were mentioned?
I'll make it out to work soon.

Good mulch ideas. Any other requests?
After seeing the tee pads at Liberty, I have a slightly different idea about 7r, 5w, 13a r.
Instead of cutting into the hillside and lining the high side with timbers, how about this?
At the back and the deepest part of the sides, lay a block foundation and wall. Sink rebar in the bottom row into the ground, fill block with concrete. Build the block up to the right level, then fill in with dirt.
_____ Fill dirt to top ___________________ xxx-------------------------------------------- / xxxx-----------------------------------/ xxxxx--------------------------/ xxxxx------------------/ Existing Incline xxxxxxx------/ ------/ /
I like this for 7r and 13a r. For runups, the other method will work better for 5w.
Watcha' think?

This way they aren't limited to how far they can run before a throw. In my humble(old) opinion, anyway..
