How do you plan on playing all eight before dark? Are you running between every shot?!

If you play in this event you will forever be a part of the Crazy 8 Secret Society. Then and only then will you find out how it is done.
Some rumors say the world goes into slow motion while the Society makes its rounds. (just like Santa Claus and Christmas Eve)
Others say they go to Nashille Shores, sit on the beach and concoct the stories needed for 8 rounds of golf.
But, I can't say. Never made it past 2 rounds.

How do you plan on playing all eight before dark? Are you running between every shot?! It's not as difficult as you might think. We just don't think very much. (I'm, good at not thinking--been practicing for years.) Walk up and throw, pick up your disc, and keep walking. Don't bother with a mini. Don't worry about who's away or who's got the box. If we finish each course in about 50 to 75 minutes, we can finish before dark. Remember, June 12 is near the longest day of the year. We're dropping Sanders Ferry and Triple Creek this year in favor of Liberty and Barfield, and that will save a lot of driving time. Come join us! If you're afraid you can't play the whole day, there's been a couple times where wimps guests have joined us for the first few courses. That's fine. Or you could join us somewhere along the way--let me know, and I'll give you my cell-phone number. Dave the editer

There is a reason why it is called the Crazy 8, but Dave seems to be fairing well after all these years so I don't think there is any permanent damage done.

So would it be worth my while to put in for a vacation day from work on that saturday? I would love to play all of those courses since I've only played 2.5 of them since getting into this sport. Oh, and if I decided to ask off work just to join in this, i'm assume there would be some carpooling of those playing all eight that I might join?

Yes, carpooling is going to be happening. I'm driving a van holding up to seven who are going to be flinging. I'm hoping that knowing this is making you more likely to be coming along.

My understanding is the group will include Dave, two Godels, Becker, James, Keith, and Brian. Scott? Saturday's calling for a high of 92 and odds are it'll rain at Cedar Hill like it does every time I play there. Any other details we should know about?

I'm getting fired up about playing. The weather will be fine, and this will probably be the biggest crowd we've ever had. Richard topped me last year, but I'm ready for him this year--I plan to make some putts. However, I'm afraid this will be the year that Grant surpasses these old men.
Here's some suggestions from an old hand:
Bring lots of Gatorade and snacks. We found it works well to drink 20 oz of Gatorade during each round and eat one piece of fruit between rounds. You can bring a sandwich, or we'll stop and get a burger somewhere--probably between Cedar Hill and Cedars of Lebanon.
I'll drive my van. I could take up to seven people, but it would be crowded. It would probably be better if another person also drove. I'll have a full-sized cooler. We might need another one of those if all eight people show up.
Here's my list of things to bring: sandwiches Gatorade oranges, apples, & bananas, oh my swim trunks for Smyrna? golf towels bug spray sunscreen hat extra discs to throw over water? 2 extra T-shirts extra shorts lots o’ shoes & socks
Everybody that shows up gets a Crazy 8 T-shirt. We usually wear them at Cedars of Lebanon and they let us play through.

I can also plan to drive and bring a big cooler. I just have a little 4-seater sedan but it seems like that would be fine. If I drive, I will need a navigator to keep me on the straight and narrow -- I've only played half of the courses under consideration.

I will be joining the fun too.
Is the order of courses in the first post the order in which they will be played? I'll be driving also due to my nicotine addiction and, like Bryan, it will be my first time at many of these courses. I'll follow the wagon train, but in case of separation by wild animals or rampaging natives, would like to be toting a full day of Mapquested directions. Just need to be sure of the order of play...
Looking forward to it!

Cam -- I expect that'll be the order of courses.
Also, a few not-quite-last minute questions:
1. Will Liberty be open when we get there at 6:15? 2. Are all 18 baskets at Two Rivers? What about Cedars of Lebanon? (I've only ever seen 17 there, but I don't know the course very well.) 3. Playing 18, 20, or 21 holes at Smyrna? 4. With 8 players, I assume we'll run two groups. If Scott plays, does that make 3 groups of three? (For that matter, any confirmation from Keith?) 5. Will this be the year someone finally gets an Ace? 6. Am I the only idiot tempted to play whites AND reds at Crockett, like we're doing at Liberty? (I fear the time constraint mightn't allow it.) 7. Anyone have a wheelchair I can borrow on Sunday?

Becker,
1. I just tried calling the parks department, but I'm guessing they are done for the day. I'll try again tomorrow unless someone else pipes in tonight with the answer. 2. Current hole 7 (old hole 9 I believe) is missing a basket. All others are kind of numbered and accounted for. . . . 6. Yes. 7. No.
