Will Liberty be open when we get there at 6:15?
Good question. But, while I remember a gate across the lane at Crockett -- I don't remember a gate at Liberty. Anyone?
And if there is a gate, I understand the park should open at sunrise. We have waited a bit at Crockett in the past for the key dudes to get there, but once again -- I am not sure there are a lot of Franklin park gates to open each am.
Have fun. I am in Puerto Rico. No dg, but I will struggle through. Ron

Greetings there my disc throwing friends. Currently, i'm not 100% sure of my status for the Crazy 8. I need to wait and see how the week develops. I'll keep you all posted as soon as I know.
There is one more thing you guys should know: Smyrna is hosting a local 2 round mini tourney this Saturday. It is open to everyone with a $5.00 entry per round. Someone may need to contact their head guy to see if you guys can even play there this Saturday.
Blessings,
Keith

Just for the record, no one would be a jerk to you guys at Smyrna. If it's not raining I'll be out there and will spread the word about the hardcore golfers and let everybody know to let you guys play through. Respect the crazy 8 !!!

1. Sunrise is about 5:30, so the park should be open. If there is a closed gate, we will park on the street and walk to #3. 3. We will play 18 at Smyrna. If that's going to be a problem, we could skip Smyrna and play Barfield Crescent and Henry Horton. I'll contact someone at Smyrna. 4. We will play in two or three groups. If we start getting behind schedule, we will play in three or four groups of two or three to speed things up. 5. I'll get the ace. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. 6. We could put you in a group of two, and then you could do it.
I'll bring driving directions for the courses.

Grant and Richard will be looking forward to the fun. I dropped off a car top carrier for Dave's van so we have more room inside the vehicle. I look forward to playing disc golf with y'all this year.

Collier, Buchanan, and Slowroll have all expressed their support for letting us play through at Sharp Springs (Smyrna), so that should not be a problem.
The forecast is hot and muggy. I can't stress enough the importance of staying hydrated (that's a highfalutin word for drinking lots of water). In the past, we've found that if we drink about 20 ounces of Gatorade during each round, and eat a piece of fruit between the rounds, we stay hydrated and don't "hit the wall." On course 8 last year my arm felt like overcooked spaghetti, but my legs kept working.

At least your last name doesn't get edited to a family friendly version.

Once when a cashier saw my last name on my credit card, she laughed out loud.
One player who didn't know me commented that "STAB NOW" was an appropriate thing to write on a putter.
So, Slowroll, which one are you--Collier or Buchanan?

So, Slowroll, which one are you--Collier or Buchanan? Dave The bottom of tndiscgolf.com has your answer Dave. How was the crazy 8? I did both monthly rounds at Smyrna and never saw you guys. The heat index was around 100, and I was beat after 2 rounds. I can only imagine the fun that was had hitting all 8 in a 13 hour block.

The results were that nobody actually died of heat stroke while playing. I drank amazing quantities of POWERade (tm). It would have been two gallons, but I just couldn't finish the last of the yellow one--it reminded me of colonoscopy prep.
Eight players started; six finished all eight courses. We started at 6:30 and finished at 9:00 (it was very dark). We would have finished sooner, but I made the poor decision to play Henry Horton instead of Barfield Crescent, so we wasted 20 extra minutes of drive time.
I'll have numbers in a day or two. James and Jim were neck and neck, as I recall (which is just ducky), but I haven't tallied the numbers. I pretty much just sat around in the house breathing conditioned air yesterday. Today Motrin and I are fighting some soreness issues.

I was one of the two that bailed early -- I was toast after course 5. Drove home, got into bed about 3:00 PM, and slept until 2:30 AM Sunday. Drank 9 20 oz bottles of gatorade during the day but never really felt hydrated, and quit when leg and ribcage cramps started flaring up.
Had fun, but I'll have a better idea how to prepare for one of these next year. Man was it hot!

Personal highlight of the day - shooting a -10 at Liberty. Personal lowlight - nearly dropping of heat exhaustion at Two Rivers, my least favorite course even when it's not sweltering.
To spoil some suspense, James took the day by somewhere around five strokes. He tried giving it away at Henry Horton, then started a mean streak of deuces on the back nine. Never playing the course didn't effect him. Darkness didn't effect him. He was a man, a myth, a birdie machine.
Dave, I dunno if you have all the scoresheets - I'd be willing to collect them and throw 'em in an Excel matrix so everyone has scores for each course. I know I'd like to enter mine (even my [merciless] +14 at Cedar Hill for recordkeeping. One of these years, I'll shoot even or better. James may have done so. Newbie.
Enjoyed the stupidity and look forward to it again next year.

Becker,
I think I have all the scorecards. I'll enter them in some kind of matrix and post them for all to see. I think I established a nice high handicap so I can blast everybody next year.
Maybe next year we'll skip Two Rivers and play Sanders Ferry instead--it would be a little more driving, but much more fun.
Bryan,
I'm glad you slept, and even gladder you woke up again. Maybe next year it will be a nice, cool 85 degrees.
